Role Overview

The Trainer role is responsible for designing, developing and facilitating training in line with the business’ training requirements. The role will also be focused on evaluating and implementing the training solutions to drive a culture of continuous development and improvement of the workforce. This role is based in Derby but frequent national travel will be required, and more specifically regular travel to London.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Technical Trainer, the main responsibilities of the role shall include but not be limited to:

  • Gathering data and providing technical advice and support to the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation (ADDIE) of training material
  • Providing railway systems technical training subject matter expertise to the customer based on existing or personally researched material
  • Ensuring technical accuracy and completion of training including post evaluation as part of the quality review and improvement cycle
  • Providing consultation to various Hitachi Information Control Systems Europe Ltd. (HICSE) business units on training matters
  • Interfacing with other key senior stakeholders around the business to provide railway technical subject matter expertise and to recommend training solutions
  • Coaching and developing others
  • Supporting the continuous development and improvement of the workforce
  • Support, promote and enforce company processes, demonstrating managerial behaviours and values

 

Achieving success in the role will be indicated by performance on tasks such as:

  • Adherence to the HICSE Business Management System
  • Creating bespoke training solutions for existing and developing markets
  • Deliver customer centric training services and products
  • Evaluate and report the results of training, and implementing improvements as required
  • Enhancing the reputation of HICSE through professional delivery of training material and consistently driving for results
  • Reporting training evaluation results and incorporating lessons learned into material

 

Key Skills and Experience

 

Training Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Training and Development / Learning and Development (or equivalent)

Essential:

  • Experience in training delivery with a proven track record of excellence in training development and delivery
  • Experience of developing training material from inception to delivery

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 3 Assessor (or equivalent)
  • Experience of systems engineering / technical product delivery
  • Confident in the use of IT to develop CBT and e-learning material
  • A railway signalling operations background or demonstrable understanding of railway train movement control system principles
