Software Project Manager – Plymouth

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of R&D, tasks shall include but not be limited to:

  • Managing projects, process, and agreed scope, from inception to completion
  • Ensuring the delivery of quality products, within agreed time and budget
  • Compiling and presenting timely project progress reports
  • Controlling and managing project scope
  • Allocating tasks to the available resource effectively and efficiently
  • Ensuring staff and projects comply with the company quality and safety standards
  • Managing all stakeholders in the project

Achieving success in the role will be indicated by performance on tasks such as:

  • Adherence to the HICSE Business Management System
  • Representing HICSE at customer project review meetings
  • Working with customers and the Head of R&D to ensure timely and cost effective execution of projects to meet commercial objectives and to develop customer relationships with HICSE
  • Compiling timely project financial and progress reports as required
  • Frequent liaison with the Technical Authorities to ensure HICSE products are fit for purpose
  • Providing coaching and guidance for project teams throughout the project life cycle from conception through delivery to support
  • Providing input and/or approval to support costing and pricing for sales proposals
  • Assessing and authorising product release ensuring compliance with requirements and readiness for delivery
  • Leading project team to deliver the required tasks on the plan
  • Working with other departments to ensure the delivery of the project
  • Ensuring compliance of projects to the relevant quality, health & safety and environmental standards and the HICSE BMS
  • Providing support to the Quality Manager in the implementation and maintenance of HICSE BMS
  • Controlling project quality, cost and time as agreed with the Head of R&D
  • Taking full responsibility for all aspects of the project

 

Key Skills and Experience

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Project or Primavera project management software
  • Excellent full project cycle management
  • Understanding of project change control and risk management
  • Technical Background
  • Proven Software Team leadership skills
  • Experience of Project Management in a Technical Environment
  • Adaptability to work at all levels within the project
  • Prince2 or APM Qualified is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with railway signalling projects, standards and processes is desirable
