Modelling

Accurate modelling of operational reliability and capacity is required to understand the impact of timetable changes, infrastructure changes, reduced capacity, maintenance, enhancements and many other factors
Hitachi’s capabilities in IOT, together with a range of world class simulation and modelling solutions presents a unique opportunity to positively impact the safety, performance and capacity challenges faced by railway networks.

Model

Simulation tools have long been used for operator training and competence management on railway systems. However, due to their accuracy, these tools can be extended to use in modelling. Complex modelling techniques allow for replication of signalling infrastructure of any part of the running railway network, including station areas, yards and depot facilities, whether these are existing or planned. The integrity of a design can be fully tested, operation and performance of new or revised systems, or indeed changed operating patterns, prior to committing to a particular solution.

This enables specifiers, designers and project managers of major schemes to evaluate anticipated improvements prior to implementation, reducing both technical and programme risk from an engineering and operational perspective.
