This year Rail Forum has adopted Rail Safety Week which is being held between 26 June - 2 July 2023,
Rail Safety Week hopes to shine a spotlight on the importance of rail safety by collaborating with organisations and uniting the industry to ultimately reduce railway accidents.
According to the Rail Safety and Standards Board, there were 2 workforce fatalities, 6 passenger fatalities and 23 public fatalities at other locations on the UK railway in 2021/22. Despite trains being over 20 times safer than cars, we all have a responsibility within the industry to ensure that every user of the railway has a safe journey.
With safety being at the heart of HICSE’s innovation, members of our sales team attended the ‘Across the Railway’ conference in London to kickstart Rail Safety Week and to show our support and dedication to rail safety. It was interesting to hear industry speakers’ insights into the health and safety challenges, a government perspective on the UK’s rail safety success, community frameworks, the benefits of going digital and more. It’s vital that we participate to raise awareness surrounding the dangers of trespassing and how to protect yourself with the correct PPE and training.
At HICSE, we are continually improving rail safety through our safety solutions which provide greater protection for trackside workers. Additionally, our high-fidelity simulations enable signallers to train for all scenarios which may occur on the railway allowing for safe responses to real-life situations.
